This episode is focused on one of the tough aspects of commando training. Through the dialogs of instructor the episode conveys the characteristics and abilities of a commando. For example the commando chooses a tough and unexpected way to reach to the enemy. Which gives him the advantage of surprise to the enemy. Approaching from the unexpected way definitely makes him chose the first move, and in battle, the first move matters a lot. A. Kannan plays the instructor and he tries looking convincing and he achieve moderate success in the same.

We see the changed attitude of the instructor as a positive character transformation. Also what Vikram says is important to hear; it is something like “Despite of so many advancements of mankind, the need of infantry remains as is in the battlefield; the soldiers on the ground are the ones who actually gets hold of the land, which is one of the major task a winning army has to do, or rather need to do..”

This means the hard physical training is required for a commando, anyway. He needs to be able overcome the physical obstacles to reach to the target. And we see the climbing, jumping, crawling, and many other hard training sessions they go through. The scenes are not very effective if compared to various movies. But the scenes here are rather realistic. The conversation between the commandos is convincing enough. The dialog writer deserves the credit.

We see Madhu and Abhi are in conversation when Vikram reaches to meet Abhi. The fumbling of words by Madhu and Abhi to look normal is quite funny. It is not as funny as we find scenes in any SitCom, but its good watch. The Kabab Mein Haddi… dialog sequence is thoughtful and leaves impact.

We also see the emotional side of the training officers and cadets in the episode. For example the expression on Vikram’s face when he see that one of his commandos is on the way to fall when climbing the rock. Abhimanyu also tries putting his effort in saving the commando from fall. It gives us the idea of the brotherhood between the fellow soldiers in the armed forces. The badminton match followed by the training session is good to watch. It tries to provide some comic relief to the viewer. Though it is not very funny or so, but it is genuine though. Also one gets to see the update in the relationship status of various characters of the serial. It is followed by a conversation between Vikram, Kiran, Umesh and Madhu. Though the acting of the girl playing Kiran is not convincing and Madhu is around average; the guys playing Vikram and Umesh saves the scene. We see that there is a battle in terms of a squash match is coming on the way between Umesh and Vikram and Kiran will be the judge of the same! Is it going to be groom-choosing ceremony for Kiran? Who will win the game?

The conversation between Vikram and Kiran is thoughtful as well. It explores the character of Vikram and hence any honest army officer. His honesty, sincerity towards duty, morals, the sweat-fighting between lovers, all these attributes are explored quite nicely in the scene. Rakesh Sharma is convincing as Vikram but the lady still need to work more on acting. At the end of the conversation – the determined look – on Vikram’s face is quite nice piece of acting.

The technology used in the filming might be limited and may found underrated these days; but the TV Serial is good at content and it is genuine try to show the inner and outer world of army commandos on and off the field, and during training. The serial is not a mere documentary or war reporting, but it fetches the human attributes and characteristics of the people involved, and hence it is enjoyable as well. The background music is all fantastic. Sometimes some scenes are found inspired from the films, but you can watch them without problem. Some poor performances are there (as mentioned at various places) but some genuine acting fills in the gap.
